Captain Alfred "George" Eamer -- February 13, 1933 - October 27, 2005

George's life took off on February 13th, 1933. It touched down
a year ago on October 27, 2005.

George was a great Pilot! A great Captain! And a great Dad!
It was an honor to be his son, his friend, and a crew member
on his flight.

The following poem, written by John Gillespie Magee Jr.,
was read at his memorial service last year. Take a moment
to read it and celebrate George being at the controls of his
plane soaring through heavens with his bride by his side.
I know he'd love that!

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth,
Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things,
You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung,
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung,
My eager craft through footless falls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark, nor eer eagle flew--
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod,
The high, untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Carole & George Eamer. Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Circa: 1953
